Alma Leiva
Alma Leiva is a multidisciplinary storyteller whose work spans film, performance, visual art, and memoir—bringing a powerful immigrant voice to every project. Credited on IMDb as an actor, writer, director, and producer, she transforms personal history into compelling narratives, most notably through her memoir Grace Through the Shadows. Alma blends lived experience with hands-on production skill to create intimate, courageous stories that challenge, uplift, and connect communities; she’s now focused on producing screen and stage adaptations of her writing to expand its reach and inspire others to turn adversity into art.
My Journey
My journey began in Honduras and carried me through upheaval, migration, and the quiet work of rebuilding identity in a new country; along the way I learned every part of storytelling — from writing and staging intimate performances to producing and wearing multiple hats on independent film sets. Each setback became material and method: nights of rewriting turned into a finished memoir, early production scrambles taught me how to fund and execute projects, and small gallery shows and short films grew into a cross-disciplinary practice rooted in community and truth. I write to bear witness, I produce to make those stories visible, and I continue to push for adaptations and collaborations that honor the people and places that shaped me — proving that resilience, craft, and unwavering curiosity can transform a personal history into work that moves and mobilizes others.
Creative Passion
Artistry
My artistry is rooted in conviction and craft — a practice that weaves memory, music, visual textures, and film into stories that are intimate yet universal. I blend memoir and performance, hand-stitched objects and moving image, to create work that honors vulnerability and cultural memory while demanding agency and visibility. Whether writing a chapter, directing a scene, or producing a small film, I center voice, ritual, and the tactile details that make lived experience resonate. My work invites audiences into shared spaces of empathy and action, using aesthetic risk and disciplined technique to turn private histories into collective invitations for reflection and change.
